Update (1055ET): The World Health Organization is convening a group of leading experts for an emergency meeting about the ongoing monkeypox outbreak, according to the Telegraph.
The meeting comes as 12 countries have reported recent cases, with the CDC confirming at least one in the United States.
A liberal New York Times columnist called for a full ban on semiautomatic rifles Wednesday, but made numerous inaccurate claims surrounding firearms, getting the basic terminology describing them, the process in purchasing them, and the history of the legislation regulating them wrong.
In the column headlined, "Sick of Massacres? Get Rid of the Guns," Gail Collins wrote that gunmen in various mass shootings across the U.S. in recent years using semiautomatic rifles was "a pattern," and therefore such weapons needed to be severely restricted or removed from society.
"Good Lord, just get rid of them … [it] does simplify things, doesn't it?" she wrote, after suggesting background check laws needed to be strengthened and that the sale of "semiautomatics" needed to be restricted to those with hunting licenses.
She went on to make a number of false claims and mischaracterizations to support her argument.
Fox News Digital spoke with The Reload's Stephen Gutowski, who offered his expertise on firearms to pick apart Collins' claims.
NEW: A federal judge in Louisiana grants an injunction from states objecting to the Biden administration lifting Title 42, meaning the policy will stay in place for now and not be suspended as planned Monday.
Bill Maher suggests kids are coming out as trans is because it's 'trendy' and being gay 'is not hip enough' anymore in monologue slamming LGBTQ supporters for 'experimenting on children' with hormone blockers and gender reassignment surgery
Bill Maher accused kids of coming out as trans is because it's 'trendy' and because being gay 'is not hip enough', on Friday's Real Time.
Maher, 66, who often draws the ire of both conservatives and liberals on his long-running show, largely went after the transgender part of that acronym in his editorial.
He began by noting the polls show the number of Americans identifying as LGBTQ has doubled with each passing generation, joking that 'if we follow this trajectory, we will all be gay in 2054.'
Another virus, another mask! New Yorkers told to mask up again after local patient tests POSITIVE for same genus virus as monkeypox: CDC issues alert and WHO calls emergency meeting after US probes six cases while Europe confirms 100
An NYC patient has tested positive for the same genus virus as monkeypox sparking calls from the health department for residents to wear masks indoors - just as New Yorkers were finally returning to mask-free normalcy after COVID-19.
The CDC is still waiting for confirmation that it is monkeypox, after the patient tested positive for orthopoxvirus - the genus of viruses that includes smallpox, cowpox, horsepox, camelpox, and monkeypox.
City officials say a second possible monkeypox patient tested negative for the virus.
Shortly after Reuters published an exclusive story that the White House was looking to move advanced anti-ship missiles to Ukraine, an official in Kiev said that the US is making a plan to sink Russia’s Black Sea Fleet.
Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs adviser Anton Gerashchenko tweeted, "The US is preparing a plan to destroy the [Russian] Black Sea Fleet. The effective work of the Ukrainians on [Russian] warships convinced [the US] to prepare a plan to unblock the [Ukrainian] ports. Deliveries of powerful anti-ship weapons are being discussed."
Gerashchenko cited the Reuters report on Washington’s effort to ship Harpoon and Naval Strike Missiles to Ukraine. The missiles have a range of up to 300 km and cost $1.5 million each.
An 80,000-page cache of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine documents released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration sheds light on Pfizer’s extensive vaccine trials in Argentina, including the unusually large size of the trials and the story of a trial participant whose vaccine reaction was deleted.
An 80,000-page cache of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine documents released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sheds light on Pfizer’s extensive vaccine trials in Argentina, including the unusually large size of the trials and the story of a trial participant whose vaccine reaction was “disappeared.”
The case of Augusto Roux in Argentina suggests that in at least one instance, a trial participant whose symptoms were determined to be connected to the COVID-19 vaccine was later listed, in official records, as having experienced adverse events that were not related to the vaccination.
Vaccine trials in Argentina also appear to have glossed over adverse events suffered by other trial participants, and the potential connection between the adverse events and the vaccine.
Markets whipsawed yesterday after bad US initial jobless claims and Philly Fed data, with stocks down and bond yields also lower, as was the US dollar. Commodities were a mixed picture, however, and oil prices rose around 5% again from its intra-day low to close over $111. Referring again to a bond yields/commodities matrix, that suggested the Fed falling behind the curve, not getting ahead of it, in crushing demand to fit restrained supply. Lo and behold, we then got the headline, ‘Fed’s George Says ‘Rough’ Market Won’t Alter Fed Tightening Plan’. So, how far down can bond yields go when actual Fed Funds are still going up? Likewise, how far down can the US dollar go when the 1-month Treasury bill is 41bps, and trending lower, when Fed Funds is 100bps, and trending higher – which screams ‘Eurodollar collateral shortage’?
he Biden administration has placed an order for millions of doses of a vaccine intended to protect against smallpox and monkeypox, after the first case of monkeypox in the United States this year was confirmed in Massachusetts on May 18.
If you thought that the economic news was crazy during the first half of 2022, just wait until we get to the second half. So many of the problems that we are experiencing now are going to continue to intensify, and Americans are becoming more pessimistic about economic conditions with each passing day. In fact, as you will see below, a whopping 85 percent of us believe that it is “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that the economy will go through a recession at some point during the next year. Of course the truth is that if all we have to suffer through is a “recession”, we would be extremely fortunate. Our leaders have lost control of the economy, and many of us are extremely concerned about what is coming next.
The FBI lawyer who served as a conduit for flimsy allegations against Donald Trump said May 19 he would have acted differently if he knew Trump’s rival for the presidency, Hillary Clinton, was behind the claims.
James Baker, who now works for Twitter, said that he likely would not have have met with Michael Sussmann, who is accused of passing on data that allegedly linked Trump’s business to a Russian bank, if he knew Sussmann was acting on behalf of the Clinton campaign.
“I don’t think I would have,” Baker said on the stand in federal court in Washington.
Knowing Trump’s opponent was behind the allegations “would have raised very serious questions, certainly, about the credibility of the source” and the “veracity of the information,” Baker said. It would also have heightened “a substantial concern in my mind about whether we were going to be played.”
The testimony bolsters a key piece of special counsel John Durham’s case against Sussmann—that knowing the sources propelling Sussmann to meet with Baker would have altered how the FBI analyzed the information, which the bureau ultimately found did not substantiate the claims of a secret backchannel between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank.
The phrase “A threat rises in the east” is superimposed over rolling footage of Chinese and Russian military parades. Ethereal, eerie music plays as cinematic impressions of the Eurasian alliance between China and Russia are interspersed with images of the last century’s most emblematic struggles for democratic values.
There is footage of the fall of the Berlin Wall, a free speech protest in Hong Kong, the toppling of a Saddam Hussein statue in Baghdad, and the resolute stand of Tiananmen Square’s “Tank Man.”
This is not some documentary about the myriad threats democracy has faced time and time again, but a new video created by the Army’s 4th Psychological Operations Group and shared on social media by U.S. Special Forces Command.
Equal parts recruiting video and actual psychological warfare, the project might best be described as a proof-of-concept for the military’s capability to build confidence at home and to instill fear abroad.
Thanks to executive orders from Joe Biden, the ATF has released its annual report on the firearms industry and commerce.
According to that report, there has been a massive increase in firearms ownership and a significant increase in firearms manufacturing.
The report, titled "Firearms Commerce in the United States – Annual Statistical Update 2021," sheds light on the number of firearms manufactured per year, firearms imports & exports, NFA forms filed, and more.
According to the report, firearms manufacturing has tripled since the year 2000. It continues to increase over time, with manufacturing reaching a high of 11,497,441 firearms made in 2016, likely due to the demand caused by the 2016 election (there is no data for 2020 or 2021 in the report).
Update (1645ET): Elon Musk has waded into the Sussmann trial - tweeting on Friday that it's "absolutely correct" that a 2016 tweet from Hillary Clinton was "misleading disinformation."
A week before the 2016 election, Clinton notably tweeted "Computer scientists have apparently uncovered a covert server linking the Trump Organization to a Russian-based bank," to which user @veespike asked Musk: "@elonmusk I have reported this tweet as misleading disinformation to the powers that be at @twitter. I would be interested to know if, when you receive control over the company, anything was done with this at any level. Pls advise soonest."
"You are absolutely correct," Musk replied, adding "That tweet is a Clinton campaign hoax for which their campaign lawyer is undergoing a criminal trial."
Musk then asked Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and top Twitter attorney Vijaya Gadde to weigh in.
Large-scale street protests have been raging in Iran since last week, as inflation and the war in Ukraine have driven flour-based food staples to jump by as much as 300% - this also after the government moved to cut food subsidies.
Amid the soaring prices, already in an economy devastated by years of US sanctions gong back to the Trump administration's pullout of the JCPOA nuclear deal, the central government has few options in terms of relief for the populace given assets abroad remain frozen.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has for the first time issued details regarding its threatened "military and technical" response two days after Finland and Sweden submitted their applications for NATO membership.
Defense Minister Gen. Sergei Shoigu described in public statements that Russia's military is beefing up its troop presence along its western borders, though without specifying which exact locations. Finland shares an over 800-mile border with Russia. Shoigu outlined that 12 new units will be established under the Western Military District for new border patrols, to include heavy equipment.
"We are taking adequate countermeasures. Under these conditions, we are actively improving the combat composition of the troops. By the end of the year, 12 military units and subunits will be formed in the Western Military District," Shoigu told Russian media outlets.
On October 28, 2020, at 4:35, a female driving a blue Toyota with a red air freshener hanging from her rear-view mirror drove up to an absentee ballot drop box at the Balduck satellite voting center in Detroit, MI. A female passenger emerges from her vehicle with a large stack of what appears to be absentee ballots. The female passenger struggles to deposit multiple ballots at one time into the drop box slot and can actually be seen tearing one of the envelopes as she attempts to jam too many ballots into the slot at once. The slots in the drop boxes are supposed to be designed to accept one ballot at a time. The female passenger eventually completes her deposit of the large stack of ballots, and they pull away.
The Russian Justice Ministry on Friday added ex-world chess champion Garry Kasparov and former oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky, both prominent critics of the government, to the list of individuals acting as foreign agents, according the ministry’s website.
The term “foreign agent” carries negative Soviet-era connotations.
According to the website, Ukraine was mentioned as a source of financing for Khodorkovsky, a critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin. It said Kasparov’s funds have been sourced from Ukraine and the Human Rights Foundation.
Russia will not export food to the detriment of its own population, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council and former president Dmitry Medvedev has said, adding that the West can blame its own "cosmic cretinism" for the looming crisis.
In a lengthy Telegram post, Medvedev commented on recent statements by Western leaders about food security. As Russia and Ukraine are major wheat suppliers, accounting for some 30% of global exports, prices have significantly grown since the launch of the Russian military offensive in the neighboring state and the subsequent sanctions imposed on Moscow by the US, EU, UK and others. On Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that fertilizers and food products from Russia should be available to the world markets without obstacles.
Medvedev agreed that without wheat and other food supplies from Russia, the importing countries would "have a very difficult time," especially, he noted, because, without Russian fertilizers, "only juicy weeds [would] grow" on their fields.
"Well ... that's sad. They've got themselves to blame," he wrote.
Former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook told a federal court in Washington, DC on Friday that, in 2016, Hillary Clinton approved leaking to the media a story claiming that the Trump Organization had been in contact with Russia’s Alfa Bank. The story originated with one of Clinton’s lawyers, and is false.
Mook, who ran Clinton’s unsuccessful campaign in 2016, told the court that campaign lawyer Marc Elias approached him claiming to have proof that servers connected with Russia’s Alfa Bank exchanged data with servers belonging to the Trump Organization. He said that he had been assured that the evidence had come from “people that had expertise in this sort of matter.”
Mook said that nobody on the campaign was “totally confident” in the information, and that he asked Clinton whether he should release it to the media. “She agreed,” he said, and the information was released.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg addressed the Allied defence chiefs on Thursday (19 May 2022), at the start of the one-day Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence session. He outlined the changed security environment due to Russia’s…war in Ukraine, describing it as “crucial and dangerous time for Euro-Atlantic security.” President Putin is failing in his strategic objectives, the Secretary General said, “Ukraine stands, NATO remains strong, and transatlantic unity is solid”.
Mr. Stoltenberg thanked the thirty Chiefs of Defence [in] defend[ing] every inch of NATO territory against threats from any direction. “It is important that we sustain our efforts and ‘reset’ our posture for the longer term”, he said, adding that “resetting does not mean starting from scratch. We will build on our ongoing adaptation” since Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.
The Secretary General also thanked the defence chiefs for their input to NATO’s next Strategic Concept, which will be adopted by Alliance leaders at the Madrid Summit in June. The 2022 Concept “will drive the future adaptation of our Alliance, so that we are better prepared for an era of strategic competition and rising security threats”, Mr. Stoltenberg said.
Hillary Clinton personally approved leaking to the media information alleging a connection between Donald Trump and a Russian bank in 2016, which the campaign itself had not fully confirmed, according to testimony Friday by Clinton’s campaign manager.
Robby Mook, Clinton’s campaign chief, said in federal court that as the campaign against Trump heated up in the late summer and early fall of 2016, Marc Elias, who was then a lawyer with the Perkins Coie law firm and served as the campaign’s top legal adviser, told Mook that “people with expertise” in cyberactivity had briefed the campaign on data alleging links between the Trump Organization and Alfa Bank, a Russian financial institution with ties to the Kremlin.
NBC’s Meet the Press just aired an absolutely freakish segment in which the influential narrative management firm Center for a New American Security (CNAS) ran war games simulating a direct US hot war with China.
CNAS is funded by the Pentagon and by military-industrial complex corporations Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin, as well as the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office, which as Antiwar’s Dave DeCamp notes is the de facto Taiwanese embassy in the US.
The war game simulates a conflict over Taiwan which we are informed is set in the year 2027, in which China launches strikes on the US military in order to open the way to an invasion of the island. We are not told why there needs to be a specific year inserted into mainstream American consciousness about when we can expect such a conflict, but then we are also not told why NBC is platforming a war machine think tank’s simulation of a military conflict with China at all.
At the onset of the Russian incursion into Ukraine I argued in my article ‘Order Out Of Chaos: How The Ukraine Conflict Is Designed To Benefit Globalists‘ that US boots would be on the ground within a few months. I was wrong – As it turns out, US and European military boots were ALREADY on the ground. Ukraine was a proxy war from the very beginning.
But what is a proxy war, really? It means that Russian troops are fighting Ukrainian soldiers that are intermingled with western “advisors” and most likely US and European special forces, not to mention US intelligence operatives utilizing all the information gathering technology at the disposal of the Department of Defense. In other words, Russian soldiers are being killed by Western assets. Some pro-Ukraine people might ask why this is a problem?
To understand the gravity of this situation we have to first examine the historical significance.
Germany will not take steps that would make NATO a party to the conflict in Ukraine, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Thursday, speaking in the Bundestag (the German parliament).
He emphasized that "Germany will not undertake individual steps." "We will not do anything that would make NATO a party to the war," the chancellor added. "To help defend a country that has been attacked - there is no escalation here," Scholz added.
The chancellor reiterated that "Russia must not win and Ukraine must stand."
In any war, the first casualty is truth. Here are the biggest lies:
1. “Ukraine is a democracy”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky banned all opposition parties and banned the use of Russian as a second state language. Why did he violate his 2019 campaign promise to stop the genocidal killing of thousands in Donbas, even though they voted for him? Did he lie because neo-Nazis threatened to kill him if he did not do what they wanted? Or is he afraid of the CIA, which has assassinated other leaders, making him their puppet? Are we to trust the judgment of a man who demands a no-fly zone which could cause a global nuclear holocaust? Zelensky oversees torture and assassination of political dissenters.
2. “National sovereignty is sacred”
When Idi Amin perpetrated genocide in Uganda, the UN violated Ugandan sovereignty to stop it. When Ukraine perpetrated genocide in Donbas and planned to escalate, Russia stopped it. The U.S. violated Cuba’s sovereignty to take the planet to the edge of nuclear holocaust. The U.S. has violated lots of sovereignties in recent wars, killing millions. Given Ukraine’s genocide of a national minority, Ukraine’s sovereignty should not be respected.
Fossil fuels are a dead end and the only sustainable future for the planet is accelerating the energy transition, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said on Wednesday, launching the State of the Global Climate 2021 report, which showed that four key climate change indicators set new records last year.
The UN presented a five-point plan to jump-start the renewable energy revolution, which, Guterres says, has received a wake-up call following the Russian war in Ukraine and the immediate effects on energy prices.
According to the World Meteorological Organization's State of the Global Climate 2021 report, four key indicators of climate change – greenhouse gas concentrations, sea level rise, ocean heat, and ocean acidification – set new records in 2021.
"The key to tackling this crisis is to end our reliance on energy generated from fossil fuels - the main cause of climate change," the UN said.
The spread of monkeypox boosted the shares of Bavarian Nordic A/S, which says it’s the only company to make a vaccine approved for the viral infection.
I love reading news and I know that I tend to be too alarmist. Thus, the recent monkeypox talk, that is all over the liberal press and Twitter, piqued my interest.
Is there a new terrible pandemic coming? Will it kill 10% of our population? Do we need to trust science, as always, and urgently inject ourselves with a recently developed “monkeypox vaccine”, that is definitely safe and effective? Should we forget Covid vaccination lies and abuses, endless illness among the boosted, etc, and again look at “health authorities” as our saviors, swallowing every word?
Or, perhaps, this is just noise and the media trying to distract us from something? Is someone paying off the media to sell us a new concern and new “treatments”?
Ukrainian militants are looting in the town of Gulyay Pole of the Zaporozhye Region, beating and accusing resisting civilians of pro-Russian views, Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Friday.
"In Gulyay Pole of the Zaporozhye region, combatants of Ukrainian nationalist formations and the Ukrainian Armed Forces carry out looting raids in residential neighborhoods. They steal money, valuables and private vehicles at gunpoint from civilians, allegedly for defense purposes. Moreover, those citizens who offer the slightest resistance are beaten and accused of pro-Russian views," said Mizintsev, who heads the Russian Joint Coordination Headquarters in Ukraine.
The colonel-general pointed out that all the suspects are arrested under ‘collaborationism’ charges and taken away to undisclosed locations.
While the so-called liberal and conservative corporate mainstream media – all stenographers for the intelligence agencies – pour forth the most blatant propaganda about Russia and Ukraine that is so conspicuous that it is comedic if it weren’t so dangerous, the self-depicted cognoscenti also ingest subtler messages, often from the alternative media.
A woman I know and who knows my sociological analyses of propaganda contacted me to tell me there was an excellent article about the war in Ukraine at The Intercept, an on-line publication funded by billionaire Pierre Omidyar I have long considered a leading example of much deceptive reporting wherein truth is mixed with falsehoods to convey a “liberal” narrative that fundamentally supports the ruling elites while seeming to oppose them. This, of course, is nothing new since it’s been the modus operandi of all corporate media in their own ideological and disingenuous ways, such as The New York Times, CBS, the Washington Post, the New York Daily News, Fox News, CNN, NBC, etc. for a very long time.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has apparently unveiled a new version of the LGBTQ+ pride flag for International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT) this week.
Taking to Twitter, the leftist London Mayor wrote on Tuesday: “Today on #IDAHOBIT, I want to make clear that homophobia, biphobia and transphobia have no place in our city and send a message of solidarity to all LGBTQ+ communities around the world. We have to make sure that the progress of the past decades isn’t reversed.”
The post from Khan was accompanied with what appears to be an updated version of the “Progress Pride” flag, which was crafted in 2018 by “non-binary” artist Daniel Quasar, who added chevrons featuring the baby blue and pink colours of the transgender flag as well as black and brown for queer people of colour to the traditional rainbow flag.
The flag featured in the London Mayor’s post featured another chevron on its right side, including Quasar’s colours as well as an additional hot pink line, which has been used by other flags to represent women.
The US researched Ebola and smallpox viruses in Ukraine, says Irina Yarovaya, Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Commission on Investigation of US Biological Laboratories in Ukraine.
"Today, we presented an analysis of which pathogens the US was particularly interested in in Ukraine," she told reporters Friday. "Aside from the pathogens that are territorially bound to Ukraine, [the laboratories] researched viruses and pathogens that are endemically very far from Ukraine, such as Ebola and smallpox."
According to the legislator, the information obtained indicates "aggressive goal-setting that underpins the foundation of these programs, de facto implemented by US Department of Defense on Ukrainian soil."
"Unfortunately, it is necessary to particularly emphasize that the betrayal that the Ukrainian regime carried out against its own people has effectively left Ukrainian citizens defenseless in the face of these manipulations, experiments and clandestine research that the US is carrying out on Ukrainian territory," Yarovaya underscored.
San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone announced on Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is forbidden to receive Holy Communion because of her increasingly “extreme” pro-abortion views.
After numerous attempts to speak with her to help her understand the grave evil she is perpetrating, the scandal she is causing, and the danger to her own soul she is risking, I have determined that the point has come in which I must make a public declaration that she is not to be admitted to Holy Communion unless and until she publicly repudiate her support for abortion “rights” and confess and receive absolution for her cooperation in this evil in the sacrament of Penance. I have accordingly sent her a Notification to this effect, which I have now made public.
A German court has ruled forced vax rule for caregivers constitutional, endangering the jobs of many unjabbed workers in the sector.
Germany’s crusade for forced vax laws continues after a court in the country ruled on Thursday that a mandate requiring caregivers to get jabbed or lose their job is constitutional.
The ruling has seemingly emboldened politicians in the country once again to push for a wider forced vax regime covering all older people in the country, despite the fact that many other nation-states across the world have largely relaxed all lockdown measures aimed at tackling the disease.
According to a report by Der Speigel, a challenge to the constitutionality of the law forcing nursing and healthcare staff to get vaccinated against the Chinese Coronavirus which argued that it breached principles regarding bodily autonomy was rejected by the Federal Constitutional Court.
A total of 1.2 million Italians are set to receive a fine in the mail as Italy continues its policy of mandating Wuhan coronavirus vaccinations for all over the age of 50 until mid-June.
The 1.2 million people over the age of 50 are set to receive a fine of €100 (£84/$104) for remaining unvaccinated despite the mandate being rolled out by the Italian government in mid-February.
The president of the scientific foundation GIMBE, Nino Cartabellotta, has claimed that as many as 19.5 million Italians are either unvaccinated or have not completed their third or fourth dose of a coronavirus vaccine, the newspaper Kronen Zeitung reports.
The House on Wednesday voted 420-1 in favor of a bill that "promoted internet censorship and violations of the First Amendment" in the name of "combatting anti-Semitism."
Republican Kentucky Rep Thomas Massie was the lone vote against the bill.
"I don’t hate anyone based on his or her ethnicity or religion. Legitimate government exists, in part, to punish those who commit unprovoked violence against others, but government can’t legislate thought," Massie said Thursday after getting attacked by the media. "This bill promoted internet censorship and violations of the 1st amendment."
Nina Jankowicz was forced to resign as the head of the Ministry of Truth, and now she is running around whining, talking about how she is the real victim.
The cancelation of the Disinformation Governance Board was first reported in The Washington Post by… wait for it… Taylor Lorenz!
