A House Democrat blasted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Friday for a "failure of House leadership" by refusing to call up legislation to impose tougher stock trading restrictions on members of Congress.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger, D-Va., said she has been working with members since 2020 to call up a bill that would strengthen the provisions of the STOCK Act, a 2012 law that prohibits lawmakers from using inside information to profit from stock trading. Support for a complete ban on trading by lawmakers grew this year, but Spanberger accused Pelosi, D-Calif., and other Democratic leaders for shutting it down.
"[A]fter first signaling her opposition to these reforms, the Speaker purportedly reversed her position," Spanberger said. "However, our bipartisan reform coalition was then subjected to repeated delay tactics, hand-waving gestures, and blatant instances of Lucy pulling the football."
On Thursday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law a piece of legislation that will designate the state as a sanctuary for children and teens seeking medicalized gender transitions.
Newsom’s signature on the bill, SB 107, comes nearly a month after the California legislature passed State Senator Scott Wiener’s bill, which was introduced in 2021.
The bill allows families or individual minors who traveled to the state for the purpose of these medical procedures to be safe from out-of-state authorities acting on subpoenas, warrants, and child custody issues if the minor was brought into the state for procedures like surgical gender reassignments or the prescribing of cross-sex hormones.
The bill would also "prohibit law enforcement agencies from making, or intentionally participating in, the arrest of an individual pursuant to an out-of-state arrest warrant based on another state’s law against receiving or allowing a child to receive gender-affirming health care."
89-year-old Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein’s cognitive decline is so bad that she reportedly became angry with staffers who were trying to debrief her on the stopgap funding bill.

US space agency NASA hailed the milestone of both its orbital telescopes viewing the same event simultaneously, and said the observations would help scientists understand how an asteroid headed for Earth could be deflected.
NASA has released pictures of its experimental mission to collide a spacecraft with an asteroid.
The images show the flare after the Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) craft collided at high speed with the asteroid Dimorphos, which orbits the larger rock Didymos on September 26.
It was the first time that both the Hubble and Webb telescopes had observed the same target object simultaneously.
The State Department has announced the appointment of White House chief of staff Ron Klain’s wife as a special envoy for “biodiversity and water resources.”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken has appointed Monica Medina, the wife of President Joe Biden’s chief of staff, as the Special Envoy for Biodiversity and Water Resources, a newly created position.
Medina is known for her radical left-wing views and ardent support of Biden.
For the umpteenth time, the ANC government has shown that it does not put the interests of South Africans and the future of the country first when it comes to decision-making.
This is the only conclusion one can draw after Parliament approved the Expropriation Act this week and sent it to the National Council of Provinces for final approval before it is signed into law by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Expropriation Act has a clause that provides for expropriation without compensation.
“It is shocking that with the country’s economic slump, the unemployment and poverty there are still role players who make decisions that destroy investor confidence and who do everything in their power to not bring our economy to growth. The country’s history will judge these people,” says Mr Bennie van Zyl, General Manager of TLU SA.
“This piece of legislation is extremely short-sighted. Who would invest in a country where the state arrogates such powers to itself? With an unemployment rate that is running away precisely because of the ANC’s transformation policy, it is an open question how the government sees the way forward in terms of investment confidence? This is always the starting point of economic growth. By the way, economic growth is the only way to solve the social-welfare reality that worsens every day.”
Putin says U.S. created nuclear PRECEDENT by bombing Japan and vows to ‘smash’ the ‘satanic’ West: Rants that America is STILL occupying Germany, ‘Anglo-Saxons’ blew up Nord Stream and warns he’ll use ‘all forces’ to defend annexed Ukraine regions
- Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a scathing speech toward the West
- Claimed U.S. set ‘precedent’ using nuclear weapons against Japan during WWII
- Remarks were announcing and signing papers making his annexation of four Ukrainian regions official: Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Luhansk
- Fears of nuclear war have grown since Putin said he was ‘not bluffing’ Russia is prepared to use nuclear weapons to defend its territory
- The outlandish claims in the speech included insisting the U.S. is occupying Germany and Korea
- Also ranted about ‘sex change’ surgeries and the ‘satanic moral norms’ of the U.S.
The president's comments came just hours after the leaders of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and the heads of the pro-Russian administrations in the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye signed agreements to join Russia.
The United States "condemns Russia's fraudulent attempt today to annex sovereign Ukrainian territory," and will "continue to support" Kiev's efforts to regain it "by strengthening its hand militarily and diplomatically," President Joe Biden has announced.
"In response to Russia's phony claims of annexation, the United States, together with our Allies and partners, are announcing new sanctions today. These sanctions will impose costs on individuals and entities - inside and outside of Russia - that provide political or economic support to illegal attempts to change the status of Ukrainian territory," Biden said Friday in a White House press release.

The US stands to benefit economically from the attack on the Nord Stream gas pipelines and has a record of targeting energy infrastructure with sabotage operations, the head of Russia’s Security Council said.
“Pretty much from the first minutes after the news of the explosions broke … the West launched an active campaign for assigning blame. But it is obvious that the primary beneficiary, first of all in the economic sense, was the US,” Nikolay Patrushev said on Friday.
He compared this week’s incident with the attack on Nicaragua’s oil infrastructure in Puerto Sandino in 1983. Back then CIA officers, based on a ship moored in international waters, coordinated a raid by commandos they had trained to fight against the Sandinista government, US press reported at the time. The US spy agency also provided speed boats for the raid, a CIA source explained, according to Associated Press.
The operation was part of the Reagan administration’s “dirty war” on Nicaragua, which later led to the Iran-Contras scandal. The CIA’s secret sale of weapons to Iran to fund Latin American militants was exposed in 1986.
Patrushev made the remarks at a meeting with fellow security officials from former Soviet nations.
“It appears to be necessary to coordinate our effort to expose the masterminds and executors of this crime, setting a good example for effective cooperation,” he told his counterparts.
The San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) hosted monkeypox vaccine pop-up clinics in the city’s South of Market region this past Sunday and the weekend prior. A flyer for the event, posted on the SFDPH official Twitter account, stated that in order to be eligible for the free shot, participants must “belong to one of the following priority populations: Black, Indigenous, people of color, gay, bisexual, transgender, or a current sex worker of any gender and orientation.”
Today on CrossTalk News, we detail the proof that the USA is responsible for the sabotaging of the Nordstream pipelines and name the specific ship and navy demolition team responsible for this debilitating and traitorous act of terrorism against NATO ally Germany.

Another disturbing headline about the shooting in Oakland comes from the ABC7 I-Team, law enforcement sources tell us school officials have sent text messages to shooting victims, instructing them not to cooperate with police.
We're hearing it's a pattern, and some parents at the school are worried that a lack of action by school officials after previous incidents may have led to this escalation in violence.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) yielded to demands by unions, President Joe Biden, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and signed a law allowing farmworker unions to conduct elections via vote-by-mail, after vetoing a similar bill last year over concerns about integrity.
Last year, Breitbart News reported, Newsom rejected the proposal:
The bill, AB 616, would have allowed farm workers to use the same mechanism that Democrats have championed in recent elections, including Newsom’s own recall election last week. Democrats have also characterized Republican efforts to rein in the practice as “racist,” brushing aside concerns about potential fraud.
Newsom’s veto marks the second time this year “progressives” have resisted vote-by-mail when it comes to their own interests; Amazon did so in a union vote in January.

The great Lou Dobbs was on the War Room with Steve Bannon this morning. He was absolutely outstanding showing why he was a key carrier of the news for years with CNN and FOX.
On Thursday, President Biden took a short trip to the FEMA headquarters to give remarks on the federal response to Hurricane Ian and meet with FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell. Following his remarks, Biden turned and saunted away from the podium...in the wrong direction as his FEMA chief called after him to try and put him back in the correct direction. But he didn't hear or chose to ignore Criswell and continued wandering into a FEMA work area where he seemingly searched for a way out, failed to find one, and started shaking hands with employees.
The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear a case about vaccine requirements in New York City that was once denied by liberal US Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor. This could lead to a huge ruling about how much power state and local governments have, the Conservative Brief reported.
President Joe Biden called for the late Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) to appear during a live event on hunger and nutrition Wednesday. Walorski was killed in a car accident last month, and Biden had previously called her family to offer condolences.
Though the White House attempted to spin his faux pas as a mere sign that Walorski was “top of mind,” describing it as the kind of mistake that anyone could make, the embarrassing error was the latest evidence that Biden may not be mentally competent to hold the office of president.
And yet there is no talk about removing him from office, using the 25th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, under which the Vice President and the Cabinet submit a written statement to the leaders of Congress that the President is unable to discharge his duties. When President Donald Trump was in office, the media talked constantly about the 25th Amendment. There were even reports that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein tried to invoke the 25th Amendment and replace Trump with Vice President Mike Pence.
