Donald Trump has been indicted by a New York City grand jury on charges of falsifying business records stemming from payments he made to adult film star Stormy Daniels to prevent her from revealing an affair he had with her before the 2016 election.
A source told The Independent that grand jurors voted to indict the ex-president at some point this week, and that indictment is currently under seal.
It was only filed with the New York Supreme Court late Thursday, just before the court clerk’s office wrapped its’ business for the day.
On Wednesday, a group of protesters advocating for transgender individuals stormed the Kentucky Capitol in response to the Kentucky state legislature overriding the veto of Gov. Andy Beshear (D-KY).
The bill in question prohibits discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity in all grades, requires that transgender students use the restroom that corresponds with their biological gender, allows teachers to not use preferred pronouns, bans gender surgery for minors, and requires doctors to detransition individuals if they received ‘gender reassignment’ surgery, as reported by USA Today.
Hunter Biden was asked to use contacts in the FBI to help his Chinese business partner who was arrested for bribery and money laundering, emails reveal.
The news comes as a whistleblower claims Hunter used a top former or current FBI official code-named 'One Eye' to funnel secret bureau information to his Chinese business partners.
Patrick Ho – convicted of bribery and money laundering in 2018 – was secretary general of CEFC, the Chinese oil giant Hunter partnered with, and which sent the Biden family more than $5million.
Former President Donald Trump made a U-turn this week after slamming the Manhattan grand jury investigating a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
“I have gained such respect for this grand jury, & perhaps even the grand jury system as a whole,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social on Wednesday.
The post comes after Trump has slammed Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg for a “political witch hunt” and suggested that the jury could be tainted against him. Trump also declared earlier this month that he believed that Bragg’s office would have him arrested.
But on Wednesday, Trump delivered a more positive tone and said that he believes the grand jury is questioning the evidence put forward against him, adding he believes the evidence is “overwhelming” in his favor.
After Shasta County ended its contract with Dominion Voting Systems over election fraud conspiracy theories, there were two options county leaders considered: 1) Enter an agreement with a different electronic voting system certified by the state of California, or 2) Attempt to count all ballots by hand — which would come at a very steep cost and risk falling out of compliance with state law — and apparently hope that My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell pays the legal fees stemming from any possible lawsuits.
Guess which option the five-person board — now led by a conservative supermajority — chose.
"The whole thing is just hard to absorb and I'm in a little bit of shock," county elections chief Cathy Darling Allen told SFGATE on Tuesday evening, after the board voted 3-2 to hand-count all ballots. The vote came at the tail end of a laborious nine-hour meeting.
It’s obvious things have gotten bad when President Joe Biden’s talking points are being undercut by one of his most ardent lapdog economists.
Biden took to the press podium March 13 to congratulate himself on his administration’s wild efforts to secure the deposits at Silicon Valley Bank following its historic collapse. Biden attempted to dismiss any notion that what he was pushing was a government bailout. “No losses will be — and this is an important point — no losses will be borne by the taxpayers. Let me repeat that. No losses will be borne by the taxpayers,” Biden claimed.
Not so fast, said New York Times economics columnist Paul Krugman, aka Mr. “Transitory” inflation. “[Y]es, they were bailouts,” Krugman rebutted. “I wish the Biden administration weren’t trying to claim otherwise.”
It’s almost an understatement to say that Republican candidates campaigned hawkishly on border control in the runup to the 2022 midterms: As they decried the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs from Mexico, many vowed to impeach the man they largely blamed for the mess, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
Republicans have continued hammering Mayorkas since taking control of the House. Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, who called the flooding of more than 5 million illegal immigrants across the southern border since President Biden took office an “intentional” policy, has made several visits to the U.S.-Mexico border with other Republicans, and the House has held multiple hearings on immigration.
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio blasted the Pentagon’s increasingly leftward bent as it struggles to keep up with national security interests.
“The United States military is the greatest fighting force in the world, but woke activists in the Biden Administration are undermining military readiness, cohesion, and purpose,” Rubio, R-Fla., told The Center Square. “We cannot allow these left-wing crazies to hollow out our military. The world is an increasingly dangerous place and America’s security requires a strong military capable of deterring – and if need be, defending – our nation.”
