Earlier, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said that since the beginning of the special operation, the Russian Armed Forces had eliminated more than 5,800 foreign mercenaries.

NATO soldiers under the guise of mercenaries are involved in combat operations in Ukraine, Colonel-General Sergei Rudskoy, head of the Russian General Staff's Main Operational Directorate, said in an interview with Russian media.

"NATO servicemen are involved in combat operations under the guise of mercenaries. They operate air defense complexes of operational-tactical missiles and multiple rocket launchers, and are part of assault troops," Rudskoy said.

The United States escalated tensions in the Red Sea on Saturday with a strike on the Houthis as the Yemeni movement continued its resistance against Israel’s destruction of Gaza.

The US conducted five strikes in total, three of them against Houthi anti-ship missiles, one against a surface drone ship, and one against an underwater drone vessel.

“CENTCOM identified the anti-ship cruise missiles, unmanned underwater vessel, and the unmanned surface vessel in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen...” read a statement from US Central Command, while claiming the Houthi presence was "an imminent threat to US Navy ships and merchant vessels in the region" and labeling the US response as “self-defense strikes.”

About 32,000 NATO soldiers, over 1,000 armored vehicles, 235 airplanes and helicopters are deployed near Russia's and Belarus's borders, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said on Tuesday.

"The situation is no calmer on the European continent, including near our borders. In the immediate vicinity of Belarus and Russia, as part of the alliance's operations in Europe, about 32,000 soldiers of the contingents of the united armed forces of NATO and the United States are stationed. There are more than 1,000 armored vehicles, about 160 artillery systems and mortars, 235 airplanes and helicopters," Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the Pul Pervogo Telegram channel.

Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Georgia and Serbia will be drawn into NATO just like the scenario of the situation in Ukraine, Lukashenko added.

Myanmar is interested in BRICS, including the introduction of a common BRICS currency, and is studying the bloc, Myanmar's Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kan Zaw told Sputnik on Tuesday.

"Since May 2023, we have been recognized as a dialogue partner in the SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organisation]. We are also studying BRICS and its development. Moreover, we are interested in BRICS and the BRICS single currency initiative," the minister said in an interview.

In June 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin told the BRICS Business Forum that the five major emerging economies should establish an international reserve system based on the basket of BRICS currencies. Although it may take years for the group to create such a monetary system, the final result is likely to be a balance between the competing Western dollar system and the BRICS currency basket.

Tel Aviv's brutal military campaign in the Gaza Strip, aside from claiming thousands of lives and wreaking havoc upon the region, has put a serious dent in the Israeli economy.

Israel’s GDP contracted 19.4 percent during the last quarter of 2023 amid the invasion of the Palestinian enclave, according to data released by the Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics.

This large decline in Israel’s economy was influenced by several factors, said Dr. Nasir Iqbal, associate professor at the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics.

“The ongoing war contributed to the decline of Israel's economic activity. Secondly, the psychological impact of war also has a significant impact on decreasing consumption patterns,” he explained.

“If we look into the spending pattern and psychological well-being of the citizens of Israel, they are facing a lot of issues in terms of this psychological warfare of the economy and that led to a significant decline in economic activity,” he said.

Drugs hailed as game-changers in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, a type of dementia, carry risks that may outweigh any benefit, scientists warned UK media on Sunday.

UK regulators are expected to decide next week on whether or not to approve the drug lecanemab, which was greenlit by US regulators last year, and donanemab, which is currently awaiting approval.

However, the drugs, which manufacturers say slow cognitive decline by clearing out amyloid protein in patients’ gray matter, are also known to shrink patients’ brains, and as many as a third of those who receive them also experience side effects classified as “amyloid-related imaging abnormalities” (ARIA) - a catch-all term that includes the swelling and bleeding of the brain.

Tea, meat and peanut are some of the unassuming foods that lead to a build-up of PFAS 'forever chemicals' in the body, new research suggests.

While previous studies tested food for these toxic substances, experts have never quite been sure how much of it makes its way into our systems and stays there.

For the new paper, scientists tracked more than 700 participants for over four years, taking regular blood samples and studying exactly what they ate.

They described the results as 'really interesting'.

Food and drink normally considered relatively healthy, like green tea, pork chops and bottled water, were all linked to higher levels of PFAS.

On the other hand, fries, added sugar and tap water were not found to raise the risk, contrary to the findings of other research.

Judge Arthur Engoron, a committed Democrat, has ruled repeatedly against Trump in the three years he’s been presiding over James’ lawsuit. According to the AP he’s forced Trump to sit for a deposition, held him in contempt and fined him $110,000.

According to reports Judge Engoron has been married three times and has four children.

But Arthur Engoron is no boy scout.

Engoron was banging the secretary of opposing counsel during a previous case – a complete ethics violation.

The Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported this in 2002.

Nathan Lewin, a defense attorney for the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada, said the court’s Jan. 23 ruling against his client in several pre-trial decisions is “suspect” because of that relationship, of which he was not informed until late last month.

Lewin is defending the rabbis in an $11 defamation million suit filed by Helen Chayie Sieger of Borough Park, who claims their decision to allow her husband to remarry without requiring him to grant her a rabbinic divorce in effect labeled her an unfit spouse.

Lewin said in court papers that the law secretary, Arthur Engoron, claims he only began dating the secretary of the opposing counsel, Christopher Sullivan, on May 10. But Lewin said Sullivan’s actions in the case may have been “influenced” by information he received from the woman, identified in the papers only as Sue.

And Lewin noted that Engoron “was drafting [later] decisions and communicating” with the judge about this case during the time he was dating Sue.

Incarcerated workers in the US produce at least $11bn in goods and services annually but receive just pennies an hour in wages for their prison jobs, according to a new report from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).

Nearly two-thirds of all prisoners in the US, which imprisons more of its population than any other country in the world, have jobs in state and federal prisons. That figure amounts to roughly 800,000 people, researchers estimated in the report, which is based on extensive public records requests, questionnaires and interviews with incarcerated workers.

ACLU researchers say the findings outlined in Wednesday’s report raise concerns about the systemic exploitation of prisoners, who are compelled to work sometimes difficult and dangerous jobs without basic labor protections and little or no training while making close to nothing.

Most incarcerated workers are tasked with general prison maintenance that is crucial to keep the facilities running, according to the ACLU researchers, who worked with the University of Chicago Law School’s Global Human Rights Clinic.

The FBI confidential source charged last week for allegedly providing false information about President Biden and his son Hunter Biden implicated Russian intervention, per court documents filed Tuesday.

The big picture: Alexander Smirnov, 43, admitted that "officials associated with Russian intelligence" were involved in passing a story about Hunter Biden, per the government's memorandum in support of his detention.

  • Prosecutors alleged in the filing that Smirnov told an FBI handler that the Russian Intelligence Service intercepted several cellphone calls placed at a hotel "by prominent U.S. persons the Russian government may use as 'kompromat' in the 2024 election."
  • They argued against his release, alleging that Smirnov was "actively peddling new lies that could impact U.S. elections after meeting with Russian intelligence officials in November."

Yes, but: A federal judge ruled after a detention hearing in Las Vegas that Smirnov should be released on a personal recognizance bond.

CAIRO (Reuters) - Hamas has confirmed receipt of a shipment of medicines under a deal brokered by Qatar and has begun delivering the supplies to hostages held in Gaza, Qatar's foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement on Tuesday.

Qatar and France brokered a deal with Israel and Hamas last month on the delivery of urgent medication to hostages held by the militant group in Gaza in return for humanitarian and medical aid for the most vulnerable civilians in the enclave.

"Qatar received these confirmations as the mediator in the agreement, which includes the entry of the medicines and shipment of humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza Strip, especially in the most affected and damaged areas, in exchange for delivering the medicines needed by hostages in the sector," Qatar's foreign ministry spokesman, Majed Al-Ansari, said in a statement.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis suffered an embarrassing meltdown during a Thursday hearing into her relationship with one of her prosecutors.

As reported by the Conservative Archives, former Trump 2020 campaign official Michael Roman filed a complaint in January alleging that Willis and Nathan Wade —a private attorney with the Atlanta-based Wade & Campbell Firm— engaged in an improper relationship that has seen Wade profit significantly from prosecuting Roman and his co-defendant, including former President Donald Trump.

The shooter who killed two police officers and a firefighter paramedic in a Minneapolis suburb during a domestic disturbance call early Sunday has been identified as a man who was already barred from owning firearms.

Shannon Gooden, 38, opened fire on first responders in the affluent suburb of Burnsville, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said on Monday.  Gooden was in a contentious dispute with the mother of his three oldest children, authorities said, when first responders arrived at the scene.

Gooden killed Burnsville Officers Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27, and Adam Finseth, 40, a firefighter and paramedic who was assigned to the city’s SWAT team, police said. Another officer, Sgt. Adam Medlicott, was shot and wounded. Gooden himself was found dead in a room of the home with a gunshot wound to his head in what the Hennepin County Medical Examiner confirmed as a suicide.

A Catholic couple in Indiana is asking the Supreme Court to hold the state accountable for keeping their child out of their home after they declined to use his chosen name and pronouns.

In M.C. and J.C. v. Indiana Department of Child Services, Mary and Jeremy Cox are appealing to the Supreme Court after they were investigated by Indiana officials for refusing to refer to their son using pronouns and a name inconsistent with his biological sex.

Becket is pursuing the case on behalf of the Coxes, arguing state courts allowed Indiana to keep the child from living in his parents' home due to their disagreement with the child's gender identity because of their religious beliefs. Notably, upon completing the investigation, the state determined the allegations of abuse against Mary and Jeremy were unsubstantiated, but still argued that the disagreement over gender identity was distressing to their child.

Lori Windham, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, told Fox News Digital that no parent should ever have to endure what Mary and Jeremy have been forced to go through.

“President Trump has an 8th amendment challenge to the unconstitutional fines levied against him by a rogue judge,” Constitutional Scholar Mark Levin noted Tuesday, commenting on the extraordinary $370 million fine (including interest) imposed by a New York judge.

Later that day, former President Trump posted the text of the 8th Amendment on TruthSocial.com platform, later linking to the same article linked by Levin in his comment posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The text of the 8th Amendment states:

“Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”

In “Stalinist $370M judgment against Trump should be vacated immediately,” Arthur Fergenson, senior counsel with Ansa Assuncao LLP, explains both the “Stalinist” nature and 8th Amendment violation of Judge Arthur Engoron’s onerous decree:

“Professor Jonathan Turley called the $370 million judgment confiscatory, extreme and abusive. Professor Steven Calabresi termed it a travesty and an unjust political act. The subhead for his online commentary employed the term ‘Stalinist.’ Both law professors are right.

Mere minutes after The Palestine Chronicle released the documentary ‘The Black Dress’, jointly produced with Friends of Palestine Network, social media companies began imposing restrictions on viewing the most comprehensive response to the New York Times allegations on December 28 that Palestinians committed mass rape on October 7.

Instagram and Facebook, in particular, deleted the documentary altogether alleging that it had promoted ‘dangerous organizations’.

Despite the fact that ‘The Black Dress’ refutes the allegations mostly based on Israeli sources, and without embracing the claims of any organization or entity, ‘dangerous’ or otherwise, META maintained its position, even after producers reinstated the content without referencing any organization by name

In a recent development, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has unveiled plans to establish an 80-acre base in Eagle Pass to accommodate 1,800 National Guard troops.

"Texas is expanding our border security capabilities by building a new Texas Military Department base camp to increase and improve border security operations in this area," Governor Abbott stated. He further explained that the new base would enhance the operational efficiency of the Texas Military Department soldiers stationed in Eagle Pass. "Before now, the Texas National Guard had been scattered across this entire region in cramped quarters, away from fellow soldiers, and sometimes traveling long distances to do their job. This base camp is going to dramatically improve conditions for our soldiers," Abbott added.

During his monthly news conference, Utah Governor Spencer Cox was questioned by Telemundo reporter Veronica Sansur regarding the transportation of illegal immigrants from New York shelters to Utah.

Sansur inquired, "What are your thoughts about migrants coming to our state... Are you concerned about the crisis of immigration here in our state? We know that there's some migrants that arrived here from New York City shelter this week."

Sansur further pressed, "They actually told us that the shelter paid for their plane ticket. Are you aware of this and is this a concern?"

Governor Cox addressed the issue by expressing apprehension about the implications of mass immigration in Utah and highlighted the involvement of cartels in facilitating the movement of individuals across borders.

An international operation led by UK and US law enforcement has severely disrupted "the world's most harmful cybercrime group", the Russian-linked ransomware specialist LockBit, officials announced Tuesday.

An international operation led by UK and US law enforcement has severely disrupted "the world's most harmful cybercrime group", the Russian-linked ransomware specialist LockBit, officials announced Tuesday.

LockBit and its affiliates have targeted governments, major companies, schools and hospitals, causing billions of dollars of damage and extracting tens of millions in ransoms from victims.

Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA), working with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Europol and agencies from nine other countries in Operation Cronos, said it had infiltrated LockBit's network and taken control of its services.

"We have hacked the hackers, we have taken control of their infrastructure, seized their source code, and obtained keys that will help victims decrypt their systems," NCA director general Graeme Biggar told reporters in London.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday said he would introduce legislation to match the cabinet decision rejecting “international diktats” seeking to push Palestinian statehood — boasting of his decades of thwarting any such move.

In a video statement, Netanyahu said Israel has for months resisted international calls to halt the war in Gaza against Hamas but is now facing new pressures, in particular “an attempt to force upon us the unilateral establishment of a Palestinian state which will endanger the existence of the State of Israel.”

“We flat out reject this,” he said.

Webmaster addition: This is the reason for unrest in the Middle East. Israel demands a right to exist while denying that same right to others, in particular the Palestinians. If Israel would simply grant to others that which they demand for themselves, the bloodshed would have been avoided!

Jon Stewart damage control was in full effect Monday night as he went after ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson, lambasting Carlson for his interview with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The sneering attack appeared to be the The Daily Show host’s belated effort to reassert his left-wing credentials after being mocked for daring to criticize President Joe Biden in a previous show.

Stewart used his monologue to grapple for a description of Carlson’s face as he sat through Putin’s addresses during the interview exchange.

“It’s not really a straight face so much as you try to convey a mixture of what appears to be shame, arousal and I’m gonna say irregularity,” Stewart offered. “For instance, like you’re constipated while jerking off to a Sears catalogue.”
